Haterz in the Harper Row tag can piss off back to Arkham. We don’t need yo kind around here.
no1fuckinmesseswithmahsista.
But seriously people, please don’t tag your hate, because I’m rather passionate about Harper, and I want her to be the sixth Robin, if they don’t bring Damian back.
Thank you for reading this, and I hope soon that you learn not to tag your hate.
The only thing that got me angry was it read very much like a Lonely Place of Dying, which was the origin story of another Robin already. I don’t care if she’s Robin beyond that.
bothered that the most recent issue of Batman reads like Tim’s origin story? It sounds like Snyder’s pushing for Harper to become the next Robin, and I’m cool with that, but could you at least make her story feel less like a ripoff?

MY FAITH HAS BEEN RESTORED. ALL OF MY FAVORITES IN ONE BOOK. AND THEY ARENT CURSED TO CERTAIN DEATH. NOH-VARR FUCK YEAH!
Why are there so many covers and when can we finally get the comic itself??
Point One, the precursor to Young Avengers, comes out next week.
The actual comic comes out in January.

I’m a skeptic by nature, have been for a while. I like to wait for the evidence to be in before I make judgments about something. I try and look at all the angles. Which is why doing something like this preemptive move makes me hope that in the end it will become unnecessary. I love being proven wrong and I hope to be regarding this. But, just in case…
This is about the upcoming Marvel series Avengers Arena, a superhero take on the teenaged death-game sub-genre which has risen to prominence in recent years thanks to things like Battle Royal and The Hunger Games. It takes some of the more recent teen heroes created, some of them fan or critical favorites and places them in the scenario with a few new fresh faces and promises death, murder and mayhem for characters that do not have the reliable revive-ability of better known heroes.
I just realized the day will come when the 2000’s teenagers will get into comics, and argue fiercely with you about how Tim wasn’t a Robin. They will call us stupid for thinking it, and that he was Red Robin.
Oh my God, I can’t even handle this fucking realisation.
I bought it. I read it. And guys, it really isn’t that bad. Tim was still trained by Batman. He was still part of his family. The only reason he chose to go by Red Robin instead of just “Robin” was out of respect for Jason. He was still Batman’s partner. Ok, so he never went by just “Robin.” But…
NO YOU SHALL BE STONED AND BURNED LIKE THE BLASPHEMER YOU ARE!
Seriously, though I disagree, I won’t grief you over it. The reason I personally disliked it is it took away nearly everything about Tim that made him Tim. In this new continuity, Tim Drake isn’t even his real name. That’s something that irked me to no end.
There was the fact that the only reason Bruce has taken him in, seemingly, isn’t for his intellect or (in this new continuity) his Olympic-level gymnastic talent, but because Tim’s parents asked Batman to take him in. Tim, in original continuity, was the one who deduced Robin’s, and by association Batman’s identities. Tim doesn’t even SUSPECT Bruce is Batman until Bruce unmasks.
I’m seeing a bunch of people who ship this starting to gloat over people squicked over the idea because the relationship would have been pedophilic and Tom Brevoort has said she’s college aged. Whatever, get your ship on, I don’t care.
What has me pissed off about this is that not even a year ago Kate was sixteen years old in Marvel continuity. On top of that Kate stopped being Hawkeye because of the events of Children’s Crusade, and appears in everything I’ve seen of her to have picked up the bow again because of a crush. It feels more like character assassination to me than anything else. Not people shipping it, but the fact that they appear to have aged her up and nixed everything that made Kate stop in the first place.
